Two Bay Area poets will each receive $50,000 from the Academy of American Poets to fund literary projects in their communities.
San Francisco’s Tongo Eisen-Martin and El Cerrito’s Tess Taylor have been named 2024 Poet Laureate Fellows for their literary excellence and community engagement. Both serve as poet laureates in their respective cities.
This year the academy received 55 applications and awarded 22 poet laureates across the country for a total of $1.1 million.
